Brief Professional Profile Dr. Ehtesham

Dr. Ehtesham is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and PhD Coordinator at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar.

He completed his MBBS from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, followed by an MS in Biomedicine from the University of Skövde, Sweden and a PhD in Medical Sciences from Hull York Medical School, UK. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Training from Hull York Medical School and a Certificate in Health Professional Education (CHPE) from KMU.

Dr. Ehtesham has served at KMU since 2018 and has undertaken several academic and research roles, including PhD Course Coordinator, COVID-19 PCR  Consultant at the Public Health Reference Laboratory, and previously Research Fellow in Academic Diabetes and Endocrinology at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, UK. His earlier experience also includes research work at Uppsala University, Sweden, and clinical training at Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar.

His research interests encompass diabetes and endocrinology, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic health, nutrition, oxidative stress, inflammation, vascular function, and molecular and cellular mechanisms of disease.

Overall, Dr. Ehtesham is an experienced biomedical researcher, and academician with international research exposure and a strong multidisciplinary background spanning clinical medicine, biochemistry, endocrinology and biomedical research.
