Bi-annual Anatomy Research Day Fall 2018
Bi-annual Anatomy Research Day Fall 2018
The 6th Bi-Annual Research day of Anatomy was conducted on the 11th of September 2018 in the anatomy lecture hall, Academic block, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Khyber Medical University. This activity is into its third year and is a major part of the review process and student progress in MPhil &PhD Anatomy.
The aim of this activity is to,
• Encourage students to develop an analytical and critical view of research
• Impart the importance of research to newly inducted students
• Enable networking with invited guests from other departments
These are clearly linked to the University’s strategic aim of:
• Creating a research, knowledge sharing and enhancement culture, to ensure that experience, good practice and know how are capitalised within and across faculties.
A brief overview of all academic and research activities conducted in Anatomy at IBMS was presented with emphasis on professionalism as well as timely management of research projects. MPhil and PhD Anatomy students presented their research work while MPhil Semester 2 presented their talks based on a critical analysis of five research papers. This work is a part of their internal assessments and helps students develop an inquisitive mind and then guide it in developing presentable material.
The event was well attended by PhD and MPhil Anatomy students 1st to 4th semester as well as by the IBMS faculty. A total of 20 students out of which 7 presented critical appraisals and the rest all presented ongoing research projects. Six students had a discussion on potential projects. All presenters were awarded certificate of active participation, Dr Nadira was awarded Best presentation and Dr Falak Naz Most efficient researcher. We are thankful to the Dean Prof Dr Jawad Ahmed and faculty IBMS for their support and valuable input.
