Press Release for tree plantation campaign by Khyber Medical University by in collaboration with Public Health Association KP

The institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Khyber Medical University took the initiative of a tree plantation drive with Public Health Association KPK as a way to address Global warming and future water crisis. The first phase of which culminated on 13th August to celebrate the 71st Independence Day of our beloved country for a “Green Pakistan” with a plantation of 150 trees at main campus of Khyber Medical University.

I am pleased to apprise your good office that the Competent Authority has granted approval for the distribution of laptops among the students of Mphil and PhD, IBMS in PM Laptop Scheme Phase IV-V.
A list of students students who are selected for award of laptop by HEC in PM Laptop Scheme Phase IV-V is hereby attached.

Therefore, you are requested to inform the students concerned to collect the laptops from the office of undersigned on 15.05.2018 at 0900 hours positively.

Department of MBG organized a seminar on “Cytogenetic and Its Practical Application” at IBMS, KMU on 22nd march 2018. The speaker was Dr. Muhammad Ismail who is serving as the director of Institute of Biomedical and Genetic Engineering (IBGE, KRL) Islamabad. Dr. Ismail shared his experience with traditional cytogenetic approach as well as shed some light on the recent advances in cytogenetic.

Pre-eclampsia is a common complication of pregnancy. Its prevalence is high in developing
countries like Pakistan especially in remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mortality rate from
pre-eclampsia is 16% in Pakistan which is quite high from other developing countries. The
reason behind this high mortality rate is unawareness regarding the disease, illiteracy, low
socio-economic conditions and lack of ante-natal check-up in the KPK.
